Over the past 2 two years, there have been many new companies and key figures to rise in the American Hallyu industry and have tried their hands at being successful. Some made it big, others fell shirt, and others tried illegal ways of getting things done. Out of all the figures we've seen one name seems to keep popping up among the rest, and that name is Mateo Ramirez.
We don't know much about Mr. Ramirez, but we know what he's claimed to have done and we know that just a few days ago he caused the founder of Seoulwave "Truely Malic" Michael Smith-Grant to post a statement on social media staying this:
In the past Ramirez has claimed to be the head of several business that specialize in Hallyu such as Nonstop Media, Hallyu Dream Concert (KLIGHT Media & Events), Kwave, and Wave Music Entertainment. None of these names, however, have been reported to have held a single successful event to this date. Yet we constantly see announcements from these pages for concert tours, merch sales, and auditions to become a K-pop idols, but nothing happens further than that, and fans are left asking for refunds that never come.
One would think that this individual would easily be forgotten, however, other key figures including Korean rapper Grace, entertainment agency New Planet Entertainment, and fans alike have denounced that Ramirez's "companies" are scams and should be avoided at all cost.
But perhaps the most startling piece of information we received was from a Korean management agency (Who wishes to remain anonymous) who's associates came into contact with Ramirez and ended up talking to an unexpected party in the process.
Many who've come in contacted with Ramirez have stated in articles posted on other websites stating that Ramirez has been known to lie about his age, assume another identity, and/or change the name of his business in order to allow get himself out of sticky situations, so the likely-hood of his mother actually being the one who was replying is questionable.
In 2016, allegations of him plotting sexual misconduct arose when a screenshot was leaked of Ramirez making an inappropriate comment about an individual who was a minor at the time.
Also during this time, a former associate of Ramirez by the name of Breona Yoona, posted a video statement recalling her time spent working with him and What she said left viewers shocked.
Most recently, Ramirez released a statement on the Wave Music Entertainment Facebook page apologizing for his actions:
However, the Wave Music page suddenly disappeared not too long after this statement was made. Shortly after, one of the other businesses Ramirez claimed to have ran, made a statement on their page saying the following:
Whether or not Ramirez will be taken to court for some of his alleged activities is unclear. According to his statement, he's done with working in the Hallyu industry...or maybe that's what he wants us to believe? Is the saga of Mateo Ramirez finally over?
